I love the metro map idea, ready to start lobbing for it!

And if you wanted to dig deeper, one thought I can share is considering a figure-8 metro plan where the loops allow for multiple transfer point and circular movement, reducing the dependency on central hub. But this may be more suitable for bigger cities. This is the case for the Sofia metro which is considered ‘modern’ with smart urban design, as the first loop-like line only opened about 20 years ago, and they are still working on connecting all the loops..

I see right through you, Siana. This is a clever way to get us to go to Bulgaria with you :)

But in all seriousness, I'll check this out for sure. Something felt inefficient about the way I was doing it. Using loops makes a lot more sense.

I was really tempted to buy this coffee table book when I stumbled on it

Loving the new metro map!

After living in London for 15 years I remember coming across the "Geographically Accurate" map and wondering where it had been all of my life! As a adopted Londoner we often took the main London Underground map as gospel with regards distances and positioning. This new map was much more useful, if a little harder to read.

Then of course there was the circular version of the London Underground network. Not so useful but a lot of fun.

Yo! It's so funny you say that because that was one of the hardest parts of the map. Originally, I started by placing stations directly on top of a real map and then connecting them.

When I did that, the map looked so weird and squiggly. At which point, I realized how much subway map designers simplify, rather than represent reality.

Thanks for sharing!
